He returned spectacularly to the live circuit in 2010 with his Plastikman 1. Richie Hawtin will, as ever, be revelling in the possibilities of whatever comes next. And in 2013, he remodelled the show for the Guggenheim in New York — at the request of designer Raf Simons from Dior. However, in keeping with the original vision of Plus 8, we decided to celebrate the occasion by revisiting the very reason we started the label in the first place: releasing new forward-thinking music. No real plans, just the everyday process of getting up, turning on the gear and pressing record. Seeing Richie Hawtin live is an absolute no-brainer. The truth of the matter is that Richie has mastered his craft so intensely, and has so much control over his sound that he can afford to relax and just enjoy his sets as much as those of us in the crowd always do. And, of course, he is Plastikman, perhaps that most of all, electronic musician par excellence, maintaining an underground agenda of avant-garde electronica over six albums and two compilations.
